Senior Akamai Engineer (m/f/d)

As a Senior Akamai Engineer (m/f/d) you design and operate the systems that keep everything running smoothly during peak moments like on-sales and flash events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and optimize Akamai configurations (CDN, WAF, DDoS protection).
• Own and enhance Queue-it setups and virtual waiting rooms for fair and controlled traffic flow.
• Lead real-time traffic management during high-demand events (on-sales, spikes).
• Continuously improve caching strategies, routing and queue performance.
• Analyze traffic patterns, bot behavior and attack vectors to strengthen system resilience.
• Collaborate with product, platform and security teams to integrate traffic control into user journeys.
• Advance monitoring, alerting and observability across edge delivery and queue systems.

Must-have:

• Several years of hands-on experience with Akamai (CDN, WAF, DDoS protection).
• Experience with Queue-it or similar traffic management / virtual waiting room solutions.
• Deep knowledge of HTTP(S), DNS, TLS, and CDN behavior.
• Experience with web security (bot mitigation, rate limiting, abuse prevention).
• Proven ability to stabilize systems under high load and time pressure.
• Very good English skills (written and spoken).

• Experience with large-scale on-sales or ticketing platforms.
• Strong analytical mindset for interpreting complex traffic and system behavior.
